Mission
Crime
- End the Crime Free Multi Housing Ordinance. By removing the burden of evictions placed on the police through this ordinance and city hall, they can return to being seen as protectors in our community.
- Replacing the Crime Free Multi Housing Ordinance with a board whose goal will be creating resources, aids, federal grants and the creation of programs designed around aiding and not punishing the poor.
Invest in Infrastructure, Create Jobs.
- Invest in the community as well as clean energy projects and local businesses to create sustainable jobs.
- Develop infrastructure to attract new businesses and boost the local economy.
Government Transparency.
- Enhancing transparency and accountability.
- Implement comprehensive financial audits and make results public.
- Develop a transparent budgeting process to prevent misuse of funds.
- Create a more engaging public forum for citizens to voice concerns and hold officials accountable.
Housing Crisis.
- The removal of the Crime Free Housing Ordinance as mentioned earlier will aid in more than just removing the division between the police and the people. Additionally its removal will end the restrictions placed on landlords that make it difficult for renters with any criminal past, even minor offenses, from gaining the basic necessity of shelter or even allowing such people from being a guest in their home.
- The current administration has boasted that by the end of their term they will have demolished 300 houses in Granite City. This is wasted potential and opportunity. Where they see an eyesore I believe there is hope. Granite City has a high demand for affordable houses. I am currently in communication with groups and programs that help rebuild and restore homes. These Organizations have not been a part of Granite City due to the mayor's stance on vacant houses. I would much rather create an opportunity for a struggling family to rebuild a home than creating more maintenance costs on the taxpayers by creating empty fields for the government to mow.
- Investing in city-owned affordable housing
- Create more accessible resources and aid for the Homeless.
- Revitalize existing housing infrastructure to improve living conditions as well as raise property values.
- Implement rent control as well safety measures to ensure safe and affordable housing for all residents.
